- Okay, lets create a little FAQ :)
-
- Available Boards : Manufacturer: Bus: Video-RAM:
-
- Piccolo Ingenieurbuero Helfrich ZorroII 2 MB
-
- This is a 32 Bit Cirrus Logic Chip board. It was replaced by the 64 Bit
- Piccolo SD64 some times ago. The Piccolo has 86 MHz Pixel Frequency (lower
- values in 16/24 Bit). Typical resolutions : 800x600 72 Hz, 800x600 24 Bit 60
- Hz, 1024x768 70 Hz. It comes with EGS software, but CyberGraphX is available,
- too (about double the speed of EGS).
-
- Piccolo SD64 same as Piccolo ZII/III 2/4 MB
-
- This is a 64 Bit Cirrus Logic Chip Board with 110 MHz Pixel Frequenncy (lower
- values in 16/24 Bit). Typical resolutions : 800x600 89 Hz, 1024x768 89 Hz,
- 800x600 24 Bit 89 Hz. It comes with EGS software, but CyberGraphX is
- available,too... runs with ZII on ZII systems, with ZIII on ZIII systems.
-
- Cybervision Phase 5 Zorro III 2/4 MB
-
- This is a 64 Bit Trio S3 Chip board and probably the fastest existing Amiga
- Graphics Board (SD64 is a bit faster in writing pixels, but slower for
- everything else). 135 MHz Pixel Frequency. Typical resolutions : Same as SD64
- and better ones. Comes with CyberGraphX.
-
- Retina Z3 Macrosystems Zorro III 4 MB
-
- This is a board with a similar speed to the SD64. 110 MHz Pixel frequency. It
- comes with the Retina Workbench Emulation, but CyberGraphX is available, too.
-
- Others : EGS Spectrum is some sort of "Piccolo" (the old one) clone, but is no
- longer manufactured. Picasso II is at about the same speed like the old
- Piccolo (not SD64) and has the same chip. It comes with the very good Picasso
- II Workbench emulation, but CyberGraphX is available too. The Merlin is the
- (in?)famuous X-Pert Board (4 MB, ET4000-Board) that does not work with some
- Zorro III systems in the older version. It is not longer manufactured. It
- comes with the HRG Workbench emulation that has CyberGraphX emulation in its
- latest version as far as i know... i heard something, there should be
- CyberGraphX for it too, but i am not sure...
-
- Whatever board you get, be sure to get CyberGraphX for it !!! Other WB
- Emulations have no future... (by the way, a lot of Picasso Software runs on
- CyberGraphX too...) I would recommend the Cybervision or the SD64 for Zorro
- III systems (best : the Cybervision) and the SD64 or the Picasso II for Zorro
- II systems.
-
- As to new to be released boards :
-
- - There will be a new version of the Cybervision with true VRAM
- - There will be a board called Picasso III (ZII/III)
